Pearl Gaming SEO Secrets

Do's and Do-Not's of Web Site Development

When building your affiliate web site for maximum SEO, there are a few things that are considered do's and do-not's. Read over the condensed list below for some helpful web development tips.

Things You Should Do:

  1. Allow Easy Navigation: Your web site should be simple to navigate. The Directory Menu should contain all important links to your other web pages and should be easily visible from the moment your web site loads. A visitor should never be confused as to where they will find information on your web site.
  2. Fast Load Time: Your web site should load immediately upon entry. Difficult loading is the top reason visitors leave a web site before viewing its contents. All web pages should be less than 15kb, 5-10kb is best.
  3. Keyword Density: Use your keywords throughout your page, beginning, middle and end.
  4. Header Tags: Create Header Tags containing strong keywords for each section of your main page (example - <h1> <h2> <h3> etc.) Search engines hold the contents of these tags in high regard when indexing a web site.
  5. New Content: Create a new page on your web site every day consisting of 200-500 words. This can be a new page, article, news item, etc. Web sites that update and add content regularly get better search engine rankings than those that do not.
  6. Cross Links: These are links that direct the viewer to another page within the same web site. Every page of your web site should contain links to another page of your web site. For instance, articles should provide links to other related articles.

Things You Should Not Do

  1. Bad Grammar: Never use bad grammar, (mis-spelled words, mis-use of punctuation, etc.) on your web site. It is unprofessional and will make your web site lose credibility to your visitors.
  2. Keep It Simple: Do not use excessively long paragraphs in your content. Most viewers, especially when visiting a web site for the first time, will “scan” over the text, looking for exactly what they came to find. Use bold text on keywords to catch the eye - dash marks to separate phrases - your readers will appreciate it!
  3. Black Hat Marketing: Never use “black-hat marketing” techniques. These are false SEO methods, such as keywords that do not pertain to your content, lying about the products you offer, etc. Honesty is the best policy for customer/player retention!

Pearl Gaming New Features

Start Spreading The News

Pearl Gaming provides a News Tool for affiliates to easily add News articles to their web site. The articles will include a title, short summary and full news details, and are automatically dated when added to your web site.

When someone visits your news page, they will see the title, date and short summary, plus a Read More link to view the full article. Each article will be separated from the next, ordered from the most recent at the top, to oldest at the bottom.

To add a news item to your web site, login to your CMS Admin Panel and choose the News option from the Menu. You will see a Date, Title and Short Text for each article already installed, if any, along with an Edit and Delete option. Below this list is an Add button. Click the Add button to create a News item.

You will be shown three text areas; the first is the Title of the News item. Second, enter the summary or short text, for the article. This is just a short, 2-4 sentence description of the news article. It should provide a complete, interesting synopsis of the article, without taking up too much space. Last, enter the full text for the News article. Click the Add button below when complete.

If the news article is worthy of being placed on your web site, it is most likely worthy of a few strong keywords, as well. Be sure to add in some of your keywords, but not so much that it loses fluency. It is recommended to add News items to your web site on a daily basis. These news items may also give you good ideas for writing to your Blog and Forum, another daily task that is highly recommended.

CAC Kicks Off In Three Weeks

The fifth annual CAC (Casino Affiliate Convention) is set to begin May 3, 2007 in Amsterdam at the NH Grand Krasnapolsky Hotel, and will run through May 5. The convention will focus on affiliate programs and marketing in the online casino, poker, bingo and sports betting industry.

The CAC maintains the largest audience in Europe of any online affiliate trade show and conference, with Exhibit Space for CAC-2007 already sold out as of January. The convention will cover all of the latest and most effective forms of online marketing and promotions for casino affiliate programs. Both affiliate managers and affiliates will be attending.

The CAC is an excellent opportunity to meet other affiliates, share ideas and find new affiliate programs/affiliates. Discussion will include the best methods to increase traffic and conversion rates. Attendees should be assertive, introducing themselves to other affiliates and affiliate managers to get the most out of the convention.

Pearl Gaming would like to encourage all of our affiliates who can attend this event to do so. Pearl Gaming's CEO, Karim Dahmani, will be attending and is very excited about meeting many of our affiliates in person. Tickets for the event are only available to registered casino affiliate convention delegates. Be sure to register and purchase your ticket by April, 27, 2007, as the entry fee will rise after this date.

Second Life Invites FBI To Review Virtual Casino

The FBI is investigating the Virtual Casinos at Second Life to determine whether they are in violation of the UIGEA. The creators of Second Life's virtual casinos, Linden Labs, cordially invited the FBI into their system for further examination, though the US government has not yet decided whether virtual casinos should or should not be allowed by law.

Ginsu Yoon, Vice President of Business Affairs at Linden Labs, said, “We have invited the FBI several times to take a look around in Second Life and raise any concerns they would like, and we know of at least one instance that federal agents did look around in a virtual casino.”

Second Life is a popular virtual community which proffers its own currency, called the “Linden dollar”. This currency is utilized for many things within the virtual community, including the hundreds of virtual casino and poker games. The Linden dollar may then be exchanged for US dollars. Yoon commented that the company is seeking guidance from US authorities on Second Life's virtual gaming activities, but has not been given any clear rules at this time.

Online Casino Affiliate Sites Up For Auction

There will be an auction held at the CAC (Casino Affiliate Convention) next month where many online casino affiliate site domains will be up for grabs. The CAC is being held May 3-5 at the NH Gran Krasnapolsky Hotel in Amsterdam.

Since the US passing of the UIGEA of 2006, many online casino affiliate sites, specifically those aimed at the US market, plummeted from significant profits to near nothing, practically overnight. The online casino industry lost approximately 23 million players since the UIGEA was passed.

Though the expected after-effects of the US market loss seemed staggering, the online gambling business continues to thrive. The projected income for the online casino and online poker industry remains substantial, hovering at an estimated $12 billion next year.

Many domain names that once realized very lucrative gains in the US market will be going up for auction at the CAC. These domain names could very well hold unlimited value, especially if the UIGEA is repealed, as anticipated, by US congressman Barney Frank and other high-ranking public officials.

Online gambling operations and players alike are working diligently to lobby against US laws that prohibit online betting. Most have doubled their efforts since the boost provided by the WTO last week, which ruled against the US, and in favor of Antigua and Barbuda. The Caribbean Island Nation argued that the US did not fulfill their end of the 2005 WTO ruling, which stated that the US must pass equal laws, either in favor of the of online gambling, or against land-based gambling operations, such as off-track horse race betting. To allow one without the other, ruled the WTO, is considered prejudice and in direct violation of the General Agreement in Trade in Services (GATS).
